hackajob Staff

Welcome to our new series, dedicated to introducing you to the entire team at hackajob.

This month we’re hearing from James Bull, our newest hire and Senior Account Executive. An avid cyclist (he spends way too much time cleaning his bike afterwards), James is currently in the process of renovating his house. In his spare time, he can be found taking long walks with his black labrador, Daisy.

Why hackajob?

I’ve been working in fast-paced SaaS start-ups for over 8 years, solving problems for some of the biggest brands in the world. I love the ever-changing landscapes in start-ups, and feel that kind of environment really suits my personality. I’m a sociable person who loves meeting new people, so Sales has always felt like a perfect fit for me.

I’ve been familiar with hackajob for a little while now and previously worked in recruitment tech. In fact, I recently gave a presentation at the same event as Mark, our Co-Founder and CEO, and was blown away by hackajob’s potential. The product offering combined with my love for tech start-ups meant that when the opportunity came up to join the team, it was an easy ‘YES!’

Tell us about your day-to-day:

As a Senior Account Executive, it’s my job to not only understand the challenges of potential clients, but to solve their pain points via the application of hackajob. My role here is pretty important because we’re all trying to grow the hackajob brand and I’m a direct link in that. I feel really lucky to have the chance to meet with exciting companies across lots of different industries, especially as this allows me the opportunity to gain a broad understanding of what they do, as well as help to improve their technical recruitment strategy as a whole.

What’s your favourite hackajob feature?

I love the fact that our candidates are skills-verified before they’re matched with potential employers. Candidates can also take technical tests via our custom IDE, and I think that this makes hackajob stand out as a truly unique solution. After all, it means we can be confident that the candidates matched on our platform are a great fit and have the skills needed to be able to carry out their new roles confidently.

What’s the one thing you’re excited for this year at hackajob?

Being new in my role it’s hard to pick just one thing, but if I was pushed to make a decision then it would have to be getting out there, meeting new people and introducing them to hackajob and what makes it so great. It’s honestly amazing when you see someone getting excited about what you’re offering and helping them visualise success.

If you could give someone looking to work in Sales one piece of advice, what would it be?

My biggest piece of advice to anyone entering into sales would be to leave no stone unturned. If you’re willing to go the extra mile and be persistent, it will set you up in a great position to be truly successful.
